A great question that often comes up. You can download and use the free version of converter (Starter Edition) but the Enterprise Version will allow you to perform multiple conversions simultaneously as well as perform cold-migrations. There’s a complete list of differences between the two versions here . You are entitled to a Converter Enterprise license if you have maintained current support on VirtualCenter or P2V Assistant.

To get a license file for Converter Enterprise, the license administrator has to generate one from the license portal. The full details of the procedure (in case you haven’t been to the license portal in a while) are listed in this KB article . Visit the VMware download site for Converter to grab the current versions of the software.
